The mid-season round of the GT World Challenge Asia at Fuji International Speedway, held on July 11th - 12th, 2026, delivered intense multi-class competition, unpredictable battles, and challenging track conditions.
For the Fuji weekend, Silver-Am championship leader Alex Liang Jiatong welcomed a new teammate pairing with 2024 Japan Cup Champion Daisuke Yamawaki. Under immense pressure, the duo showcased outstanding consistency, strategic execution, and teamwork to secure two Silver-Am podium finishes with the #77 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO.
Race 1 : A Calculated Drive To The Podium
Starting from P4 in the Silver-Am class, Daisuke Yamawaki delivered a composed and flawless opening stint, maintaining strong pace throughout his time behind the wheel. After a smooth mandatory driver change on lap 14, Alex Liang took control of the #77 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO. Demonstrating impressive race pace and determination, Alex Liang fought his way through the field, gaining six positions overall before crossing the finish line 14th overall and 3rd in Silver-Am class.
Race 2 : Fighting Until The Final Lap
Sunday’s 60-minute sprint race brought another fierce battle from start to finish. Starting from P5 in Silver-Am, Alex Liang immediately attacked the competitive field before handing the car over to Yamawaki during the mandatory pit window. Yamawaki delivered a strong defensive performance under intense pressure, successfully protecting the position until the chequered flag. The #77 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO finished 15th overall, securing another 3rd-place Silver-Am podium result and completing a successful Fuji weekend.
The Road Ahead
With two valuable podium finishes secured in Japan, Craft-Bamboo Racing continues to lead the Silver-Am championship standings. The team’s continuous technical development, combined with the performance partnership with ROWE Motor Oil, continues to play an important role in delivering engine protection, reliability, and consistent performance across Asia’s most demanding racing circuits.
The team now turns its focus towards Okayama International Circuit (August 27th - 30th, 2026), aiming to carry this Fuji podium momentum forward and continue its championship challenge.
