These past few days have honestly been exhausting for people working in logistics.
Malaysia just went through a 4-day long holiday stretch with Saturday, Sunday, the Agong’s Birthday, and Wesak Day back to back. Many warehouses, drivers, customs departments, sorting hubs, and delivery teams were either running with limited manpower or temporarily paused.
And just last week, we had the Hari Haji holiday as well.
A lot of customers see that their parcel status hasn’t updated and naturally get worried or anxious. We completely understand that. Many people are waiting for stock, customer orders, business supplies, or urgent items.
But logistics is never just one single process.
Sometimes the warehouse is operating, but there are no drivers available. Sometimes the drivers are working, but the sorting hubs are overloaded. Sometimes customs clearance is done, but trucks are still lining up waiting for unloading slots.
Once long holidays happen back to back, the whole chain slows down like a massive traffic jam. It’s not something that can instantly recover just because one parcel is urgent.
Over these few days, we’ve also been receiving a huge number of customer inquiries and follow-ups.
To be honest, we are on holiday too.
If we don’t reply, it feels irresponsible. But even if we reply, many backend departments are still not fully operating. Most customer service staff can only help check what they can while waiting for warehouses, drivers, and systems to gradually resume.
At the end of the day, customer service staff are employees too.
It’s not that they don’t want to help. Most are already doing their best during the holidays to assist customers wherever possible.
People who have worked in logistics long enough will understand this:
The busiest period is never during the holiday itself —
it’s the massive backlog that comes right after everything resumes at once.
