Located in Southern Johor Bahru, this fresh food supermarket supplies its community with a wide range of chilled and frozen goods, from fresh cuts of meat to frozen convenience items. Like any grocery retailer built around perishable inventory, the business depends on consistent cold storage conditions to keep produce safe, saleable, and compliant with food safety expectations.
To support that commitment, the supermarket operates several walk-in cold rooms and freezer compartments behind the retail floor, each protected by PVC strip curtains and insulated panel walls to hold temperature. Keeping those rooms within a safe range around the clock — not just during business hours — became the operational priority that led the team to look for a monitoring upgrade.

Before installing a dedicated temperature and humidity monitoring system, the supermarket's cold chain oversight relied on periodic manual checks — staff walking the cold rooms with a handheld thermometer during opening hours. That approach left several gaps common to fresh food retail:
To close those gaps, the supermarket installed the Freshliance Coeus Mini WiFi/4G real-time data logger — a compact temperature and humidity monitoring device — directly inside its cold storage rooms. Each unit was mounted on the overhead support framework near the cold room entrance, cable-tied clear of foot traffic and product handling, and connected to a standard wall outlet.
Each logger connects over the store's WiFi and uploads readings to the cloud continuously, so the current condition of every monitored room is visible remotely at any time — not just when someone is physically on site to check.
The on-device display gives staff an immediate on-site readout of current conditions, while every reading is simultaneously logged automatically, replacing the manual spot-check routine with a continuous, unbroken data record.
If a room drifts outside its safe range — overnight, on a closed day, or during any unattended period — the system is designed to flag it immediately, giving the team a chance to respond before stock is affected rather than discovering a problem after the fact.
