Spine in Balance: Scoliosis Management That Moves With You

Straighten Up — With Confidence & Care
Personalized therapy using SEAS & Schroth Method to realign posture, build strength, and boost confidence.

💭 Noticed uneven shoulders or an asymmetrical waistline?

Scoliosis is more than just “a curved spine” — it affects posture, breathing, mobility, and even self-confidence.
At BeLeaf Physiotherapy, we offer specialised scoliosis management using evidence-based methods like SEAS and the Schroth Method, tailored to each curve, each body, each person.

🔎 What is Scoliosis?

Scoliosis is a 3D deformity of the spine that causes lateral curvature and often a rotational component. It’s commonly diagnosed in adolescents but can occur at any age. It may be structural (idiopathic, congenital) or functional (postural, compensatory).

⚠️ Common Signs & Symptoms

You or your child may benefit from physiotherapy if you notice:

❗ Uneven shoulders or hips
❗ Rib hump on one side when bending forward
❗ Visible spinal curvature
❗ Back pain, muscle tightness, or fatigue
❗ One shoulder blade protruding more
❗ Postural imbalance or gait changes
❗ Reduced lung capacity (in severe cases)

🌱 Our Specialized Scoliosis Approaches

At BeLeaf, we don’t just "monitor" scoliosis — we act early with specific, targeted interventions to improve posture, muscle symmetry, breathing, and spinal control.

SEAS Method (Scientific Exercise Approach to Scoliosis)

Developed in Italy, SEAS focuses on:

  • Active self-correction in 3D

  • Functional, task-oriented exercises

  • Improving postural control, balance & spinal stability

  • Encouraging autonomy in managing scoliosis

✅ Ideal for mild to moderate scoliosis, adolescents in growth spurts, and those not needing bracing.

Schroth Method

A globally recognised approach involving:

  • Breathing techniques (rotational angular breathing)

  • Asymmetrical postural training

  • Targeted muscle elongation & de-rotation

  • Mirror-based posture awareness

✅ Often used in more moderate-to-severe cases, sometimes alongside bracing.

⚖️ SEAS vs Schroth — What’s the Difference?

SEAS Schroth
Origin  Italy  Germany
Focus  Functional exercises + postural control  Breathing + posture correction
Self-management     Strong focus on independence  Requires therapist-guided sessions
Application  Best for early to moderate curves  Effective in more complex/symmetrical curves
Goal  Integrate spinal correction into daily activities       Improve spinal alignment and breathing

🛠️ Our Physiotherapy Approach

At BeLeaf, scoliosis care is personalized and empowering, with a strong educational component. We support children, teens, and adults alike with:

1. Comprehensive Assessment

Posture, flexibility, muscle strength, curve pattern analysis

2. Breathing & Control Training

Improve breathing mechanics & thoracic mobility

3. Individualized Exercise Program

SEAS or Schroth-based sessions tailored to curve & age

4. Postural Education

Mirror feedback & motor learning

5. Progress Monitoring

Ongoing measurement of postural improvement, muscle balance, curve response

💡 Did You Know?

📌 Studies show that SEAS exercises can reduce curve progression in idiopathic scoliosis without bracing
📌 Schroth Method has shown improvements in posture, pain, and even Cobb angle
📌 Exercise-based treatment is most effective when started early — before skeletal maturity

⚡ Treatment Methods We Use

🔹 Basic Interventions

  • Postural taping (for awareness)
  • Mobility & stretching for asymmetrical tightness
  • Breathing pattern correction

🔹 Manual Therapy

  • Myofascial release
  • Joint mobilization (if stiffness is present)
  • Muscle length balancing

🔹 Advanced Interventions

  • SEAS protocol training
  • Schroth Method sessions
  • Balance & neuromuscular re-education
  • Progress charting & feedback loop
  • IASTM technique
