Porcupine Bezoar has long been known as the "King of the Rainforest" in Southeast Asia, traditionally used by local communities for recovery from serious illness, post-surgery rehabilitation, and general wellness. Yet the industry has long faced challenges — inconsistent standards, limited scientific documentation, and a fragmented market.

As a Malaysian Chinese enterprise rooted in Southeast Asia, Miracle Medicine began building an academic exchange relationship with Guangdong Pharmaceutical University in 2019. By 2024, both parties formally launched a systematic research collaboration, progressively shifting from anecdotal knowledge toward a rigorous, evidence-based scientific framework.

International Academic Recognition: The Published Study

The research team of Professor Xue Xiao from Guangdong Pharmaceutical University, together with Miracle Medicine Sdn Bhd, innovatively integrated multi-omics technologies within a modern pharmacological research framework to systematically elucidate the multi-dimensional immune regulatory mechanisms of Porcupine Bezoar. Experimental results confirmed that Porcupine Bezoar significantly reverses the immunosuppressive state induced by the chemotherapy drug cyclophosphamide — providing critical scientific evidence for its potential as a standardised clinical immunoadjuvant.

Malaysia–China Collaboration Under the Belt and Road Initiative

This university-enterprise collaboration has been recognised as a compelling example of advancing the modernisation and internationalisation of traditional Chinese medicine under the Belt and Road Initiative framework. When centuries of folk medicine experience from the Southeast Asian rainforest enters the laboratories of a leading Chinese university and is validated through rigorous scientific methodology — and published in an internationally indexed journal — it represents the complete arc of traditional medicine modernisation.

Going forward, both parties will deepen their scientific collaboration, systematically investigating the active components, anti-tumour mechanisms, and standardisation of Porcupine Bezoar, continuing to transform traditional practice into verifiable, peer-reviewed scientific knowledge.

CCTV's production team for Dialogue with National Brands was specially dispatched from Beijing — travelling over 4,000km to Malaysia and deep into the Indonesian rainforest — to conduct full A-to-Z on-site documentation of Miracle Medicine's Porcupine Bezoar system. From retail operations and origin ecosystems to harvesting verification and quality control processes, every step was captured on camera.
