PDRM Offers Up to 70% Discount Before New Summons System in 2026
The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will be offering discounts of up to 70% on traffic summonses from November 1 to December 30, 2025. The initiative aims to help motorists clear their outstanding fines and reduce the country’s total of over RM6.6 billion in unpaid tickets. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, together with Transport Minister Anthony Loke, announced the offer in Parliament. Saifuddin shared that between 2022 and 2025, PDRM managed to collect RM640 million through previous discount campaigns. However, the government noted that such campaigns often encouraged some drivers to delay payments while waiting for the next round of discounts. Starting January 1, 2026, a new traffic summons structure will come into effect, following the concept of “The Less You Delay, The Less You Pay.” This means there will no longer be any special discount campaigns. Instead, motorists will enjoy fixed reductions depending on how quickly they make payment — 50% discount for payments made within the first 15 days, 33% between 16 to 30 days, full payment required between 31 to 60 days, and court action or blacklisting for unpaid summonses after 61 days. According to Loke, the new system is designed to ensure fairness and reward those who settle their summonses early, rather than waiting for limited-time offers. This marks the end of the long-standing discount culture and a move towards a more consistent and responsible payment structure.
