Seni Jaya Corporation has announced a strategic move to expand its out-of-home (OOH) advertising footprint in Malaysia through the acquisition of Ganad Media, a long-standing player in the sector.
The deal, executed by its wholly owned subsidiary Seni Jaya Sdn. Bhd., sees the group acquiring 100% equity interest in Ganad Media from Dwi Mewah Sdn. Bhd. Established in 1986, Ganad Media is recognised for its portfolio of premium, high-visibility advertising sites and display solutions across prime urban locations in the country.
According to a Bursa Malaysia filing, the purchase price of RM5 million will be settled via RM3 million in cash and RM2 million via the issuance of 4.95 million new Seni Jaya shares.
Ganad Media has been loss making since FY21, marking a loss after tax of about RM73 million in 2023. Its portfolio comprises approximately 60 billboard sites across Klang Valley, Perak, Penang, Kedah, Pahang and Terengganu. Ganad Media also operates a LED billboard in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, a high-traffic commercial and lifestyle hub that offers advertisers prime visibility and strong brand exposure.
The acquisition, according to Seni Jaya Corp, will allow the group to expand its customer base and product offerings, achieve operational synergies and enhanced efficiencies, as well as strengthened bargaining power. Jeff Cheah, chief executive officer of Seni Jaya Corporation, described the deal as a “strategic expansion” that combines Ganad Media’s established legacy and client relationships with Seni Jaya’s innovation-driven approach.
“Ganad Media brings with it a legacy of premium sites, a strong reputation in the industry, and valuable client relationships. By combining our expertise, we aim to deliver even more impactful advertising solutions and unlock synergies that will elevate our market position,” Cheah said.
He added that Ganad Media’s landmark sites in Kuala Lumpur would complement Seni Jaya’s existing assets, creating a more diversified and powerful platform for clients. “This move is not only about expanding scale, but also about elevating the quality and impact of our OOH offerings."
With this acquisition, Seni Jaya said it aims to shape Malaysia’s OOH landscape into one that is modern, immersive, and technology enabled. By integrating Ganad Media’s strong presence with Seni Jaya’s innovation-led strategy, the group looks to unlock new growth opportunities and deliver long-term value to its stakeholders.
Earlier in February this year, Seni Jaya Corp signed heads of agreements (HOA) to acquire two other outdoor advertising operators, Unilink Outdoor and Vision OOH, as part of plans to widen its media network, particularly in high-impact locations, and reinforce its digital transformation strategy.
