JOHOR BAHRU — The Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link is expected to significantly improve cross-border travel between Malaysia and Singapore by offering faster transit, enhanced immigration processing, and reduced congestion at the Johor–Singapore Causeway.
At the Bukit Chagar Integrated Checkpoint Complex, the project will feature automated immigration facilities including e-gates as part of a streamlined clearance system. The RTS Link will also implement a “single checkpoint” arrangement, allowing passengers to complete immigration procedures for both countries at one location before departure.
The system will also include security screening facilities, baggage scanning systems, and QR code-based clearance to improve passenger flow and reduce waiting times during peak periods.
The RTS Link is expected to carry around 40,000 passengers daily in its initial phase, with long-term capacity projected to reach up to 140,000 passengers per day. It is also expected to ease congestion at the Causeway by absorbing a significant portion of current cross-border traffic.
Developed to international standards, the project will also include a public information centre featuring interactive displays and educational materials on the RTS system.
