The ECRL begins in Kota Bharu, Kelantan—planned as a major transportation hub in the country’s northeast. The alignment then continues southwest through Pasir Puteh, improving accessibility to southern Kelantan.
Upon entering Terengganu, the railway passes through several key coastal towns. Major stations along this stretch include:
