Proton Appoints Ainol Azmil as Acting Deputy CEO Starting June 10

Proton has announced that Ainol Azmil will take on the role of Acting Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Deputy CEO) beginning June 10. He will be taking over from Roslan Abdullah, who is stepping down after serving in the role for five years. Ainol will report directly to Proton CEO, Dr Li Chunrong.

Before this appointment, Ainol was already leading Corporate Strategy and Group Technical Procurement at Proton. He will continue to manage these areas while serving as Acting Deputy CEO.

Dr Li Chunrong said, “Proton welcomes Ainol Azmil to this role. We believe he is capable and ready to take on this temporary position.”

He also added, “At the same time, we want to thank Roslan Abdullah for all his contributions to Proton, and we wish him all the best in his future plans.”

Roslan held the Deputy CEO position for five years and helped Proton reach many important achievements. During his time, Proton became stronger in Malaysia’s car market and entered the electric vehicle (EV) market with the launch of the Proton e.MAS 7 (also written as e.MAS7). This EV was launched at the end of 2024 and quickly became Malaysia’s best-selling electric car, reaching a 30% market share by early 2025.

Roslan joined Proton in 2020 as Vice President of Sales and Marketing and also served as CEO of Proton Edar. With over 30 years of experience in the car industry, including his time as President and Chief Operating Officer at Honda Malaysia, Roslan brought valuable knowledge to Proton.
