JPJ Launches Special Operation for Aidiladha to Curb Road Accidents

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has announced the implementation of ‘Operasi Khas Hari Raya Aidiladha 2025’, which will take place from June 4 to 10, as part of its initiative to reduce road accidents during the upcoming festive season.

The nationwide operation will focus on detecting and taking enforcement action against traffic offenders, particularly with the anticipated surge in traffic ahead of the holidays. Enforcement activities will include monitoring bus operations at depots and terminals, along with inspections of commercial vehicles and motorcycles to ensure they comply with safety standards.

JPJ stated that it will concentrate on nine critical offences under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333). These include driving above the speed limit, failing to obey traffic light signals, overtaking on double-lined roads, misusing the emergency lane, disregarding road line markings, using mobile phones while driving, not wearing seatbelts or helmets, driving heavy commercial vehicles on the overtaking lane, and overloading vehicles.

This operation is part of JPJ’s long-term commitment to enhancing road safety, with a goal to reduce fatalities and injuries from road accidents by at least 50% by the year 2030. The department is urging all road users to exercise caution, obey traffic laws, and prioritise safety during the Aidiladha travel period.
