The Omoda C9 PHEV has been officially launched in Malaysia, bringing a powerful and tech-packed plug-in hybrid SUV to the market. It is priced at RM208,800 (on-the-road, without insurance) and is initially offered as a limited CBU batch of only 50 units, with locally assembled (CKD) units from Shah Alam coming soon. Early buyers can also enjoy a limited-time promotion from March 18 to April 30, which includes a RM3,000 Raya rebate, free V2L (worth RM730), and free insurance for selected CBU units while stocks last.
In terms of performance, the C9 PHEV stands out with an impressive 537 PS and 650 Nm of total output, enabling it to accelerate from 0–100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds. It comes with an All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system and a top speed of 180 km/h, making it one of the more performance-focused SUVs in its class.
The SUV is powered by a 34.46 kWh LFP battery, delivering an EV-only range of up to 145 km (WLTP) and a combined hybrid range of 1,100 km. It also supports DC fast charging, allowing a 30–80% charge in just 25 minutes, adding to its practicality for daily and long-distance driving.
Under the hood, the system combines a 1.5L turbocharged engine with dual front motors and a rear motor, paired with a 3-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). This setup allows for stronger low-speed pickup and better overall efficiency, as the engine can engage even at lower speeds when needed.
Inside, the C9 PHEV offers a premium and high-tech cabin featuring dual 12.3-inch displays with a head-up display (HUD), a Sony 14-speaker sound system, and a 50W wireless charger. It also includes voice command via “Hello Omoda” and Android Auto connectivity, enhancing convenience and connectivity for drivers.
On the safety front, the SUV is equipped with a 540-degree camera system, full ADAS suite (including ACC, AEB, and Lane Assist), and 8 airbags, ensuring a high level of protection.
Buyers are further supported with a comprehensive warranty package, including 7 years or 200,000 km for the vehicle, 10 years or 1 million km for the engine, and 10 years or 200,000 km for the EV system, making the Omoda C9 PHEV a strong contender in Malaysia’s growing hybrid SUV segment.
