Q Centre Breaks Ground on Klang’s Largest Planned Centralised Labour Quarters

KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 6, 2025)Q Centre Group has officially broken ground on Q Centre @ Teratai, a landmark centralised labour quarters (CLQ) project in Meru, Klang, set to become the largest planned worker accommodation facility in the district.

Spanning facilities for 9,000 residents, the development is designed to set a new national benchmark for ESG-compliant workforce housing, combining sustainability, technology, and well-being-focused amenities.

The groundbreaking ceremony was officiated by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, joined by key state and local representatives including Selangor Deputy Speaker Mohd Kamri Kamaruddin and Klang City Council Mayor Abd Hamid Hussain.

Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2026, with targeted completion by December 2027.

A New Standard for Modern Workforce Accommodation

According to Q Centre Group’s joint managing director Simon David Leong, the project reflects the company’s vision of elevating worker accommodation standards in Malaysia through sustainable and technologically advanced design principles.

“Q Centre @ Teratai is not just an accommodation facility—it represents a shift toward sustainable, secure, and technology-driven living environments that enhance worker welfare and support industrial productivity. Our goal is to make Selangor the national model for ESG-compliant worker housing,” said Leong.

The facility will feature facial recognition access, CCTV surveillance, 24-hour security, and dedicated amenities such as canteens, prayer halls, and laundry facilities—creating a self-sufficient, well-managed environment for workers supporting industrial operations in Selangor.

Supporting Selangor’s Industrial and ESG Agenda

The development aligns closely with Selangor’s industrial expansion strategy, which includes the growth of industrial land in the Subang area, factories in Puchong, and logistics operations across the Klang Valley.

Joint managing director Datuk Wira Joey Yan emphasised that Q Centre’s projects are designed to meet both national and international ESG standards, ensuring that manufacturers and exporters in Selangor comply with global sustainability benchmarks.

“We are committed to reducing Klang’s carbon footprint while building multiple CLQs to support Selangor’s growing industrial base. Our developments combine modern design with smart systems to meet ESG and international audit requirements,” Yan said.

Expanding Nationwide with Smart, Sustainable CLQs

Q Centre @ Teratai follows the group’s earlier milestone—the launch of Malaysia’s first smart CLQ at Port Klang Free Zone, which integrates AI-driven building management systems and energy optimisation technologies.

Building on that success, Q Centre has outlined a five-year expansion plan to deliver over 50,000 beds nationwide, forming a network of modern, compliant, and sustainable CLQs to serve Malaysia’s industrial corridors and logistics zones.

This initiative is expected to improve workforce living conditions while supporting industrial growth in key economic regions such as Selangor, Johor, and Penang, strengthening Malaysia’s global competitiveness in manufacturing and export logistics.

Catalysing Industrial Property Development

Analysts note that Q Centre’s large-scale investments in ESG-certified CLQs will generate positive spillover effects for industrial property in Selangor, particularly around Subang, Puchong, and Klang—areas that continue to attract manufacturers and logistics operators seeking well-managed, sustainable environments.

The initiative also complements Malaysia’s broader commercial property ecosystem in KL and office space growth in Bukit Jalil, fostering an integrated industrial-to-commercial value chain that supports both investors and the workforce powering it.

With Q Centre @ Teratai, Klang is poised to emerge as a national model for sustainable worker accommodation, anchoring Selangor’s position as Malaysia’s most advanced and responsible industrial development hub.
