The new store is strategically located on the lower ground floor of the mall, directly beneath the five-star Sheraton Johor Bahru.
Positioned just minutes away from the Johor Bahru–Singapore CIQ checkpoint, the outlet is designed to serve a broad customer base that includes local residents, Singapore commuters, and international visitors travelling across the border daily.
The latest Village Grocer outlet plays a key role in enhancing SKS City Mall’s lifestyle-driven retail concept by offering shoppers a carefully curated selection of fresh local produce, premium imported products, and artisanal bakery items. The supermarket aims to provide a modern grocery shopping experience that aligns with the growing demand for premium and convenience-focused retail offerings in Johor Bahru city centre.
According to The Food Purveyor chief executive officer Kok Kian Kee, the expansion into SKS City Mall represents a strategic move to bring Village Grocer’s premium grocery experience closer to the vibrant urban community in Johor Bahru. He added that integrating the brand into the mixed-use lifestyle destination would improve accessibility and convenience for multi-generational shoppers in the area.
Beyond grocery retail, SKS City Mall JBCC has been curated as a modern community and lifestyle destination featuring a mix of local and selected Singapore brands, further strengthening its appeal among cross-border visitors and tourists.
In line with its sustainability initiatives, the new Village Grocer outlet will also operate as a plastic-free-at-checkout store, encouraging customers to adopt environmentally friendly shopping habits by bringing reusable bags.
