Omoda C7 PHEV Makes Malaysia Debut Preview, Launch Expected Soon
Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia has given Malaysians an early look at the upcoming Omoda C7 PHEV, suggesting that the new plug-in hybrid SUV could be launched in the local market soon.
The Omoda C7 was previously showcased at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025, but this latest preview marks the first time the PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) version has been highlighted locally. The SUV shares its platform with the Jaecoo J7, positioning it as a C-segment SUV that sits between the Chery O5 and the larger Omoda C9.
In terms of design, the Omoda C7 PHEV features a futuristic and clean appearance with a slim LED headlight design and a modern front grille. The SUV also comes with 20-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, red brake calipers, and unique rear LED lights inspired by a thunderbolt design, giving it a sporty character.
Inside, the cabin focuses on technology with a large 15.6-inch touchscreen display that can slide towards the front passenger side. The driver also gets a digital instrument display with a modern letterbox-style design.
Although Malaysia’s official specifications have yet to be announced, the Omoda C7 PHEV is expected to use a similar powertrain as the Jaecoo J7 PHEV. It could feature a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine combined with an electric motor, producing an impressive 360 hp and 530 Nm of torque.
The hybrid system is paired with an 18.3 kWh LFP Blade battery from BYD, offering an estimated 95 km pure electric driving range and a total combined range of up to 1,250 km.
Charging details for the Malaysian model are still unknown, but the SUV may support 6.6 kW AC charging and 40 kW DC fast charging, allowing the battery to recharge from 30% to 80% in around 20 minutes.
Pricing has not been confirmed, but with the larger Jaecoo J7 PHEV priced at RM158,800, the Omoda C7 PHEV is expected to be positioned in a similar price range when it officially arrives in Malaysia.
