Designing a commercial kitchen is never just about appearances.
For Sugar & Flour Baking Studio, the brief called for a space that could handle the realities of daily baking operations while still feeling warm and inviting to the customers who walk through the door.
Starting With Workflow, Not Aesthetics
Before any styling decisions were made, our design and build team mapped out how the space actually needed to function. This meant looking closely at prep areas, equipment placement, and the traffic flow between the kitchen and the front-of-house. In a working bakery, even small inefficiencies in layout can slow down service during peak hours— so getting this sequence right was the foundation everything else was built on.
Layering In Brand and Warmth
Once the operational flow was solid, we moved into the aesthetic layer — material choices, lighting, and finishes that reflect the Sugar & Flour brand while keeping the space comfortable and welcoming for customers who linger over a coffee or a pastry.
The Result
A commercial kitchen and café space that works as hard as it looks good — proof that strong design-build work starts with solving real operational problems, not just choosing finishes.
