AIMS Secures 10 Acres in Cyberjaya for RM4 Billion AI-Ready Data Centre Development

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 6): AIMS, the data centre subsidiary of TIME dotCom Bhd, has finalised the purchase of a 10-acre site in Cyberjaya, paving the way for the construction of a large-scale data centre estimated to cost RM4 billion.

According to the company, the hyperscale facility is designed to deliver up to 200 megawatts of capacity, subject to final engineering specifications. The project is targeted for completion in 2027 and will be capable of supporting advanced artificial intelligence (AI) workloads and high-performance computing requirements.

AIMS chief executive officer Chiew Kok Hin said the acquisition positions the company to stay ahead of rapidly growing demand for digital infrastructure. He emphasised that the investment goes beyond capacity expansion, contributing to job creation, workforce development, and strengthening Malaysia’s role as a regional base for global cloud providers, fintech firms, and AI-driven businesses.

The sale and purchase agreement was signed earlier this week with Cyberview Sdn Bhd, in a ceremony witnessed by Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) chief executive officer Anuar Fariz Fadzil.

The project aligns with Malaysia’s broader digital economy ambitions, including national targets to significantly increase the digital sector’s contribution to gross domestic product by 2030. Government representatives noted that investments in large-scale digital infrastructure are essential to maintaining competitiveness, enabling innovation, and supporting high-value industries.

AIMS has been steadily expanding its infrastructure footprint in recent years. Since DigitalBridge became a strategic investor in 2023, the group has invested more than RM2 billion in digital infrastructure projects. In mid-2025, the company also completed Cyberjaya Block 3 ahead of schedule, lifting its potential data centre capacity across the Klang Valley to more than 100 megawatts.

Market perspective

The continued expansion of hyperscale data centres is becoming a major driver of demand for industrial land in Selangor, particularly in established technology corridors such as Cyberjaya. These developments also stimulate surrounding real estate activity, including commercial property in KL and supporting office space in Bukit Jalil, where technology firms and service providers often establish regional operations.

At the same time, growth in logistics, manufacturing, and digital infrastructure continues to sustain long-term interest in factory space in Puchong and industrial property in the Subang area, as businesses look for strategically located facilities within the Klang Valley ecosystem.
