SENAI, JOHOR (Feb 5): Lincotec Technology (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd has officially begun construction of a new advanced semiconductor equipment manufacturing plant at the Senai Airport City Free Zone, marking the Linco Technology Group’s first manufacturing investment in the ASEAN region.
The facility will be developed on approximately 10 acres of industrial land and represents a major long-term commitment by the Taiwan-headquartered group to build a strategic production base in Southeast Asia. The investment is intended to strengthen regional supply chains, enhance manufacturing capacity, and support the growing demand for semiconductor technologies across Asia-Pacific.
Once completed, the plant will produce thin-film sputtering and dry plasma etching process equipment, key technologies used in advanced semiconductor fabrication. The new facility is expected to improve process integration capabilities and provide scalable manufacturing solutions for customers in the region.
Lincotec Technology (Malaysia) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Linco Technology Co Ltd, a company established in 1999 that specialises in sputtering and plasma applications. The group is widely recognised as a leading global supplier of electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding sputtering equipment used in semiconductor System-in-Package (SiP) applications.
According to Senai Airport City Free Zone chief executive officer Gan Seng Keong, the investment reinforces Johor’s emergence as a high-technology industrial hub, particularly in sectors such as artificial intelligence, advanced electrical and electronics, electric vehicles, and medical devices. He noted that projects of this nature are expected to create skilled employment opportunities, strengthen the semiconductor ecosystem, and promote sustainable industrial growth.
Senai Airport City continues to attract export-oriented manufacturers due to its established infrastructure, efficient logistics network, and direct connectivity to major highways, seaports, and international airports—factors that remain critical for modern high-tech manufacturing operations.
Growing Demand for High-Tech Industrial Space
Investments in semiconductor and advanced manufacturing facilities are increasingly shaping demand for industrial land and high-specification factories across Malaysia. While Johor has been a key beneficiary of these trends, similar momentum is also evident in the Klang Valley, where multinational companies and logistics operators continue to explore industrial land in Selangor, particularly in established corridors and the Subang area, known for its accessibility and mature infrastructure.
At the same time, the expansion of technology and engineering firms is supporting demand for office space in Bukit Jalil and other emerging business districts, as well as commercial property in KL that can accommodate design, engineering, and regional management functions linked to advanced manufacturing operations.
With supply chains evolving and high-value industries expanding across Southeast Asia, integrated industrial parks, strategically located factories, and well-connected commercial hubs are expected to remain central to Malaysia’s long-term industrial property growth.
