KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to make a historic visit to Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) next Wednesday, where he will personally oversee the handover of a RM40 million government allocation.
The announcement was confirmed today by the Minister of Housing and Local Government, Nga Kor Ming, during the presentation ceremony of appointment letters to the Chairmen of the Federal Village Development and Security Committees (JPKKP).
Nga highlighted that the MADANI Government has consistently allocated RM40 million annually to TAR UMT for four consecutive years. He noted that Anwar Ibrahim’s upcoming visit marks a significant milestone, as he will be the first Prime Minister in Malaysian history to officially visit the institution’s campus.
"The Prime Minister’s primary objective is to demonstrate, through concrete action, his respect and care for the Chinese community. He deeply values the support he has received from the community," Nga stated.
Drawing a comparison with previous administrations, Nga pointed out that during MCA’s tenure in government, TAR UMT’s annual allocation peaked at RM30 million. He emphasized that since DAP became part of the administration, the funding was immediately increased and has been maintained at RM40 million for four straight years.
"It is my hope that the Chinese community can feel the sincerity, respect, and appreciation shown by the current government," he added.
Earlier during the event, Nga presented appointment letters to 182 Federal Village Chiefs and Secretaries, 69 of whom are newly appointed.
The ceremony was attended by several high-ranking officials, including:
Khoo Poay Tiong, Chairman of the National New Village Development Committee;
Tan Boon Seong, Director of the National New Village Development Committee Secretariat;
Datuk Saidatu Akhma Bt Zamli, Deputy Secretary-General (Planning and Sustainable Environment) of KPKT;
Suhaimi Bin Ali @ Bakar, Deputy Secretary-General (Management and Modernization) of KPKT;
Datuk Mohd Fadzli Bin Mohd Kenali, Director-General of the Local Government Department (JKT).
