JPJ to End Issuance of Physical Road Tax Stickers for Private Vehicles Starting FEBRUARY 2026

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) will cease issuing physical road tax (Lesen Kenderaan Motor, LKM) stickers for privately owned vehicles in Malaysia beginning February 1, 2026, according to an announcement by Pos Malaysia.

Pos Malaysia said motorists who still prefer to have a physical road tax sticker may obtain one when renewing their vehicle road tax and insurance at Pos Malaysia kiosks and post offices, provided they do so before the deadline and while stocks are still available.

The physical LKM refers to the familiar rectangular sticker displayed on a vehicle’s windshield, which is different from the paper road tax document introduced in February 2023. The paper version will continue to be available at JPJ offices.

The move aligns with the government’s broader push toward digitalisation of transport services. In February 2023, the Ministry of Transport introduced digital road tax (e-LKM) and digital driving licence (e-LMM), both of which are accessible and renewable through the MyJPJ mobile application.

Under the digital system, vehicle owners are no longer required to display a physical road tax sticker, as enforcement officers can verify vehicle and licence details electronically via JPJ’s database.
