The Ministry of Finance (MoF) has introduced a new feature under the Budi Madani Diesel (Budi Diesel) programme, allowing eligible recipients to transfer their diesel subsidy entitlement to a qualifying close family member.
Applications for the first phase of the transfer programme are now open through the official Budi Madani portal and must be submitted by July 12, 2026. Applicants will be notified of their application status starting July 15, 2026.
For future application rounds, requests must be submitted by the 27th of each month, with results announced on the 1st of the following month. Applications received after the monthly deadline will be processed in the next available cycle.
To apply, the original recipient must already qualify for Budi Diesel, including being a Malaysian citizen with a valid MyKad, driving licence and a privately owned diesel vehicle with an active road tax. Both the applicant and the nominated family member must provide their MyKad details, Tax Identification Number (TIN), phone number and Budi Madani eligibility information.
The subsidy can only be transferred to one immediate family member who is a Malaysian citizen and is eligible for the Budi Madani RON 95 (Budi95) programme. Eligible family members include a spouse, parent, child or sibling.
The transfer is generally permanent and can only be carried out once. Once approved, the subsidy entitlement cannot be returned to the original recipient or transferred to another person. Exceptions are only considered in special circumstances, such as the death of the recipient or a legally recognised divorce, subject to prior notification and approval.
The ministry advises applicants to carefully consider their decision before submitting a transfer request, as the process is intended to be a long-term arrangement.
