Diesel Price Cut to RM2.10 Nationwide from July

The Malaysian government has announced that subsidised diesel will be priced at RM2.10 per litre nationwide starting in July, as part of a new targeted subsidy system.

The Ministry of Finance said the programme will use MyKad verification, following a similar model to the Budi Madani RON 95 initiative. Eligible Malaysians will be able to purchase diesel at the subsidised rate across the country using their MyKad.

Under the new system, non-citizens and those who do not qualify for the subsidy will be required to pay the unsubsidised market price for diesel. The government stated that the measure is aimed at ensuring subsidies reach eligible Malaysians while helping to reduce fuel leakages and smuggling activities.

The change will also apply to Sabah and Sarawak, where diesel is currently sold at RM2.15 per litre. Once the new mechanism is implemented, the subsidised diesel price in both states will be adjusted to RM2.10 per litre, while non-citizens will no longer be entitled to subsidised fuel.
