Malaysian Creators Warned Over Gambling Promo Offers

🚨 Malaysian influencers and YouTubers are being warned to think twice before accepting gambling-related sponsorships, as operators are reportedly treating popular creators like a jackpot. 💰 According to The Star, some offers come through direct messages, agents or sponsorship proposals, with payouts said to be up to 50% higher than normal brand deals and sometimes reaching several thousand ringgit. A gadget and lifestyle YouTuber known as Jake, who has about one million followers, said bigger audiences usually attract bigger offers, especially for longer campaigns. 🕵️ The concern is that many approaches are handled through third-party agents or runners, making it harder to trace who is really behind the gambling websites. Another creator with around 500,000 followers said such offers are common in influencer circles, while an automotive content creator with about three million followers said he had received these offers many times but refused them. ⚠️ TikTok affiliate seller and content creator Azam Hasan also warned that some influencers act as if they won thousands of ringgit from these sites, when they may simply be giving fake testimonials. He said such messages can influence young followers and may make online gambling look normal, harmless or “just a game”.
