Recently, Pinduoduo really taught me a lesson.
At first, the seller’s video made the storage cabinet look huge.
It looked stylish in the kitchen, and when the model pushed it around, it seemed almost waist-high.
The price was cheap too, so I thought it’d be perfect for storing snacks, instant noodles, and random household items.
When the parcel arrived, though…
I was completely speechless.
It was tiny. Almost toy-sized.
In the seller’s video, it looked around 90cm tall.
In reality, it was probably only about 40cm.
Looking back now, I realized the video was shot with a wide-angle lens, and the model herself was very petite — which made the cabinet look much bigger than it actually was.
Honestly, a lot of people don’t get scammed by the product itself.
They get scammed because they never checked the measurements.
After working in logistics for years, I’ve seen this happen way too many times.
A lot of customers buying from Chinese platforms make the same mistake:
They only watch the video, but never check the dimensions.
Chinese sellers are extremely good at filming products.
With wide-angle shots, camera positioning, lighting, filters, and clever room layouts, products can appear much larger than they really are.
Especially items like:
storage cabinets, tables, shoe racks, sofas, kitchen racks, laptop desks, and small furniture.
These are the easiest products to make ''look big'' on camera.
Then after the item gets shipped to Malaysia, customers come to the warehouse, see the actual product, and the first thing they usually say is:
''That’s it? So small only?''
These days, before I buy anything online, I always do a few things first.
I check the measurements carefully.
Then I take a measuring tape and compare it with the actual space in my house.
Never rely only on the model photos.
Because you don’t even know how tall the model actually is.
Another thing many people ignore:
Check buyer review photos.
Especially the negative reviews.
That’s the real world.
Seller videos are always filmed under perfect lighting, in the biggest rooms, with the best camera angles possible.
But buyer review photos usually tell the truth.
And honestly, if the price looks unrealistically cheap, it’s worth slowing down and thinking twice.
Sometimes it’s not that you found a great deal.
It’s that the size got缩水, the material got缩水, or the actual product looks completely different from the listing.
People in the shipping and forwarding industry would understand this very well.
So many parcels arrive at the warehouse looking nothing like the product shown in the videos.
It’s not that you shouldn’t buy from Pinduoduo.
You just need to know how to buy wisely.
Because sometimes, the most expensive part isn’t the product itself.
It’s the feeling of waiting two weeks with full excitement…
only to open the parcel and instantly regret it.
