On January 20, 2026, Malaysia-based Kafu, serving as the core durian supplier, successfully collaborated with Chinese partners to complete the nation's first shipment of fresh Malaysian durians imported via sea freight using modified atmosphere container technology.
This batch of “tree-ripened” Musang King durians, totaling 1,000 boxes and approximately 10 tons in weight, arrived smoothly at Yangpu Port in Hainan on January 19 and completed efficient customs clearance.
This shipment marks a significant technological breakthrough. By precisely controlling the temperature, humidity, and gas composition within the transport environment, the modified atmosphere preservation technology extends the freshness shelf-life of durians to over 30 days. This achievement enables fresh durians to enter the Chinese market on a large scale via the more cost-effective sea freight method for the first time.
Kafu is deeply honored to have supplied premium durians from Malaysian origins for this groundbreaking project. This successful collaboration fully demonstrates that through advanced technology and efficient partnership, we can deliver superior-tasting, fresher “branch-to-table” delicacies to Chinese consumers.
The success of this inaugural shipment signifies the official opening of a new trade corridor for premium Malaysian fresh durians into the Chinese market. Kafu looks forward to continuing its close collaboration with Chinese partners to jointly promote the development of high-quality Malaysian agricultural products in China.
