Chery Introduces Tiggo 7 PHEV and Tiggo 8 PHEV Models in Malaysia

Chery Malaysia has officially launched two new plug-in hybrid SUVs — the Tiggo 7 PHEV and Tiggo 8 PHEV, expanding its electrified lineup under the Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) platform. Both models are locally assembled (CKD) in Kulim, Kedah, combining strong performance, long range, and competitive pricing.

The Tiggo 7 PHEV (5-seater) is priced at RM129,800, while the larger Tiggo 8 PHEV (7-seater) starts at RM159,800 (on-the-road before insurance). Chery continues to offer the petrol-powered Tiggo 7 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro, with the Tiggo 7 Pro currently available with a RM14,000 rebate.

Both PHEV models feature Chery’s series-parallel hybrid system, which pairs a 1.5L turbocharged TGDi engine (143 PS, 215 Nm) with an electric motor (204 PS, 310 Nm), producing a combined output of 279 PS and 365 Nm through a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT150). This setup delivers an electric-only range of up to 90 km and a combined range of up to 1,200 km, balancing performance and efficiency.

Powering the system is an 18.3 kWh LFP battery that supports DC fast charging (30–80%) in 19 minutes and AC charging in about 3 hours. Both models also feature Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability with up to 3.3 kW output, allowing external devices to be powered. The battery is IP68-certified, ensuring high resistance to heat and water.

Safety remains a key focus, with both models equipped with 8 airbags and a comprehensive ADAS suite, including Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Traffic Jam Assist, and Hill Start/Descent Control.

The Tiggo 7 PHEV is available in Phantom Grey, Khaki White, and Bloodstone Red (with optional black roof at +RM2,000), while the Tiggo 8 PHEV comes in Aurora Green, Khaki White, and Carbon Black.

For ownership assurance, Chery offers a 7-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty, 8-year/160,000 km hybrid system warranty, and 5 years of free service labour. Additionally, there’s a 1-to-1 battery exchange policy if battery health drops below 70% during the warranty period.

With these new PHEVs, Chery strengthens its position in Malaysia’s hybrid SUV market, offering high performance, long range, and strong value for Malaysian buyers seeking advanced electrified mobility.
