On the evening of 25 July 2026, at the ICC Pudu banquet hall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's TCM sector gathered for its annual event — the 2026 FCPAAM Gala Dinner cum 4th FCPAAM TCM Golden Award Ceremony. The evening filled 57 tables, with over 600 practitioners, company representatives, academics and community figures in attendance.

The ceremony presented nine awards to 24 recipients — 15 individuals across the TCM practitioner categories, and 9 companies across the health industry categories. Miracle Medicine Sdn Bhd received the TCM Research & Innovation Award (中药科研创新成果奖), as the sole recipient in that category.

The award was presented to founder Prof. Is. Dr. Kien-Seng Lim by Senator Tiew Way Keng, witnessed by Organising Chairperson Hilrary Low, FCPAAM President Prof Is Dr Ng Po Kok, and Yew Jia Haur, Selangor State Assemblyman for Teratai. Other guests in attendance included Datuk Seri Dr. Robert Lim Kia Ngee, National President of the Association Chinese Society of Commerce Malaysia (SOCOM), and Datuk Seri Dr. KK Chai, President of The Malaysia Chinese Assembly Hall (MCAH).

When the name "Miracle Medicine" was announced in the hall, the feeling within the team was not so much excitement as quiet relief. This recognition did not arrive overnight — it is the result of years of sustained investment and exploration along a research pathway.

About the 4th Golden Award and its organiser

The Golden Award (金医奖) is an annual industry award organised by the Federation of Chinese Physicians and Acupuncturists Associations of Malaysia (FCPAAM / 医总), one of the most significant national professional bodies for TCM practitioners in Malaysia, bringing together registered physicians, acupuncturists and allied professionals nationwide.

The Golden Award was established to build, within the TCM sector itself, an annual recognition mechanism judged by peers and grounded in professional achievement — recognising practitioners and companies making substantive contributions across TCM clinical practice, research, industry development and educational continuity. 2026 marks the fourth edition.

Speaking at the ceremony, FCPAAM President Prof Is Dr Ng Po Kok said the Federation intends to establish the Golden Award as the most credible and influential TCM professional award in Malaysia and across the ASEAN region, enabling more outstanding practitioners and institutions to reach an international stage. He noted that the Golden Award is not only about commending peers, but also carries a mandate to advance the sector — setting professional benchmarks, encouraging innovation, and moving the industry toward greater professionalism, regulation and internationalisation.

He added that FCPAAM will continue to strengthen collaboration with government, higher education institutions, research bodies and industry to advance TCM education, research innovation, international exchange and the application of artificial intelligence.

The TCM Research & Innovation Award is one of the nine awards presented this year, dedicated to recognising companies and institutions that have made substantive progress in TCM research and innovation.

That evening, industry leaders pointed in the same direction

Worth recording is that across the evening's addresses, several invited leaders independently raised the same theme — TCM needs research.

Senator Tiew Way Keng, who presented the award to Miracle Medicine, noted in her opening address that the professional standing Malaysian TCM holds today was not achieved overnight. On the path ahead, she said:

For Malaysian TCM to go further, it must strengthen research. TCM has a long history, but it still requires more complete data, more rigorous clinical records, and more systematic study. — Senator Tiew Way Keng

Datuk Seri Dr. KK Chai, President of The Malaysia Chinese Assembly Hall (MCAH), approached the question through the relationship between tradition and modernity. TCM has thousands of years of history, he said, but a long history does not mean it can stand still:

Datuk Seri Dr. KK Chai also noted that the Traditional and Complementary Medicine Division of Malaysia's Ministry of Health has become one of the World Health Organization's collaborating centres in the field. "This shows that Malaysia is not merely using traditional medicine — it also has the standing to participate in international research, professional standards and institutional development."

These remarks align with the direction Miracle Medicine has been working in for several years. It is also why we regard this TCM Research & Innovation Award as carrying more weight than an ordinary award — it is not a commendation of one company, but the industry's confirmation of a direction.

What the TCM Research & Innovation Award recognises

This award recognises Miracle Medicine's substantive progress in porcupine bezoar research collaboration — in particular the long-standing partnership with the Institute of Neuro-Health at Guangdong Pharmaceutical University, and the study published in the peer-reviewed international journal Pharmaceuticals (MDPI) in April 2026.

That paper — The Immunomodulatory Effects of Porcupine Bezoar on Cyclophosphamide-Induced Immunosuppression in Rats (DOI: 10.3390/ph19040563) — marked the first time Malaysian porcupine bezoar was formally recorded by international academia through standardised research. The study was completed in collaboration between Guangdong Pharmaceutical University and Miracle Medicine, with Miracle Medicine as the second affiliated institution.

That work moved Malaysian porcupine bezoar from being a health material "traditionally used" into a scientific pathway where "standardised research can be referenced." It is one of the core bases for this award.

From MDPI to the Golden Award — two independent validation pathways

For Miracle Medicine, 2026 has been a year in which two independent systems recognised the same direction of work.

In April, validation came from international academia — the study co-authored with Guangdong Pharmaceutical University passed international peer review, was published in Pharmaceuticals (MDPI), and is indexed in PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science, becoming the first citable formal research record on Malaysian porcupine bezoar in international academic databases.

In July, validation came from Malaysia's TCM industry itself — the FCPAAM judging panel conferred the TCM Research & Innovation Award, representing recognition from domestic TCM professional peers of the direction of our research.

These two validation systems are independent of one another, represent different sources of authority, operate through different assessment processes, and point to the same conclusion:

Two independent systems, one shared direction — this is not "the same thing praised twice," but the same body of research work passing assessment in two entirely different validation systems. That is the significance of both recognitions arriving in the same year.

The ceremony — 2026 FCPAAM Gala Dinner

The 2026 FCPAAM Gala Dinner cum 4th FCPAAM TCM Golden Award Ceremony was held at 6:00 PM on 25 July 2026 at the ICC Pudu banquet hall in Kuala Lumpur. The evening filled 57 tables, with over 600 practitioners, company representatives, academics and community figures attending from across the country.

The ceremony opened with a traditional gong-striking ritual, performed by Datuk Seri Dr. KK Chai, Hilrary Low, Yew Jia Haur, Senator Tiew Way Keng, Prof Is Dr Ng Po Kok, title sponsor Prof. Is. Dr. Kien-Seng Lim, and FCPAAM Honorary Adviser Dato' Ng Tiam Lai.

Following the address by FCPAAM President Prof Is Dr Ng Po Kok, proceedings were led by Organising Chairperson Hilrary Low. The nine awards were presented in sequence, with the TCM Research & Innovation Award conferred by Senator Tiew Way Keng upon Miracle Medicine Sdn Bhd founder Prof. Is. Dr. Kien-Seng Lim, witnessed by Hilrary Low, Prof Is Dr Ng Po Kok and Yew Jia Haur.

During the ceremony, FCPAAM President Prof Is Dr Ng Po Kok also presented a commemorative gift to title sponsor Prof. Is. Dr. Kien-Seng Lim. Senator Tiew Way Keng announced a contribution of RM20,000 to FCPAAM in support of the event and the sector's development.

FCPAAM council members present also included Legal Adviser Dato' Tang Mok and Vice President Chen Rou Jing.

What comes next — Phase 2 research

Receiving the TCM Research & Innovation Award is not an endpoint, but a marker at the start of Phase 2 research work. Phase 1 (the MDPI paper) established the research foundation in the immunomodulation direction. The work ahead includes:
