iCaur Hints at Upcoming CKD V23 Launch in Malaysia

iCaur Malaysia has sparked excitement after sharing a mysterious teaser on its social media channels, hinting that the locally assembled (CKD) iCaur V23 could be arriving in Malaysia soon. The teaser shows the SUV’s front silhouette with the Petronas Twin Towers in the background, accompanied by the caption: "Something is about to roll in, and it was born to stand out."

The iCaur V23 first entered the Malaysian market in November last year as a fully imported (CBU) model. It is currently available in two versions – 2WD priced at RM119,800 and AWD at RM132,800, both excluding insurance.

The 2WD variant is powered by a rear electric motor producing 136 hp and 180 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 11 seconds, has a top speed of 140 km/h, and is equipped with a 59.9 kWh LFP battery that delivers a claimed 360 km driving range (NEDC).

For buyers wanting more performance, the AWD model adds a second electric motor at the front, increasing total output to 211 hp and 292 Nm. This cuts the 0-100 km/h time to 7.5 seconds, while the larger 81.8 kWh NMC battery extends the claimed range to 430 km (NEDC).

Inside the cabin, the V23 combines a rugged look with modern technology. Standard equipment includes a 15.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, faux leather upholstery, and a multifunction steering wheel.

Safety is also well covered, with both variants featuring a 540-degree surround-view camera and a comprehensive ADAS package, including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB).

The teaser follows the successful introduction of the CKD iCaur 03, which became the brand's first locally assembled model in Malaysia. Built at Chery Corporate Malaysia's Shah Alam plant, the CKD iCaur 03 maintained pricing that was very close to the earlier imported version despite local assembly.

If iCaur applies the same strategy to the CKD V23, Malaysian buyers could soon enjoy competitive pricing while benefiting from a locally assembled electric SUV.
