S P Setia BhS P Setia Launches Nationwide “Setia Lenscape” Photography Campaign to Showcase Township Livingd has introduced “Setia Lenscape”, a nationwide photography campaign designed to encourage Malaysians to explore and capture the unique character of its townships through creative storytelling and visual expression.
Organised in collaboration with EdgeProp Malaysia as the exclusive media partner and UCSI University as the academic partner, the campaign aims to highlight the landscapes, architecture, public spaces and community life that have shaped S P Setia’s developments over the years.
Celebrating Townships Through Photography
The competition is open to photography enthusiasts, hobbyists and members of the public. Participants are invited to visit selected S P Setia townships across Malaysia and capture photographs that reflect the identity, vibrancy and lifestyle of these communities.
Rather than focusing solely on buildings, the campaign encourages entrants to showcase the broader living environment, including:
Parks and green spaces
Waterfront features
Public and recreational facilities
Architectural landmarks
Community gathering areas
Everyday moments of township life
The initiative seeks to demonstrate how thoughtfully planned developments can create meaningful living experiences beyond residential properties alone.
Promoting Placemaking and Community Stories
According to S P Setia, the campaign is intended to inspire participants to experience its townships from a different perspective and appreciate the elements that contribute to a strong sense of place.
The company emphasises that photography can capture not only physical surroundings but also the relationships, emotions and daily interactions that define a community.
By encouraging visual storytelling, the campaign highlights the role of placemaking in creating townships that foster connection, lifestyle and long-term value.
Academic Involvement from UCSI University
UCSI University will contribute an academic perspective to the competition through the participation of its faculty members in the judging process.
Entries will be evaluated based on several criteria, including:
Technical quality
Creativity
Originality
Storytelling ability
Representation of place and community
This approach aims to recognise photographs that effectively communicate the experience of living, working and interacting within a township environment rather than focusing solely on aesthetics.
Competition Timeline and Prizes
Participants can submit their entries between:
Opening date: July 6, 2026
Closing date: August 31, 2026
The campaign offers a total prize pool of up to RM50,000, with winning entries selected by a judging panel comprising representatives from S P Setia, EdgeProp Malaysia and UCSI University.
The competition is expected to attract both amateur and experienced photographers interested in architecture, urban design, landscapes and community life.
Highlighting the Value of Master-Planned Communities
The campaign also serves as a platform to showcase the principles behind S P Setia’s master-planned townships. Through photography, participants can explore how design elements such as parks, pedestrian-friendly spaces, recreational facilities and community infrastructure contribute to the overall quality of life within a development.
By focusing on real experiences and environments, Setia Lenscape aims to deepen public appreciation for the role of urban planning and placemaking in shaping sustainable communities.
What I Learned
This article demonstrates how property developers are increasingly using creative and community-focused initiatives to strengthen engagement with the public and showcase the lifestyle aspects of their developments.
I learned that modern township development extends beyond constructing homes and commercial buildings. Successful developments place significant emphasis on placemaking, community interaction, public spaces and quality-of-life features that enhance residents’ daily experiences.
The campaign also highlights the importance of storytelling in real estate. Through photography, participants are encouraged to capture not just physical structures but also the emotions, activities and community connections that give a township its identity. This reflects a growing recognition that the value of a development is often measured by the experiences it creates for residents and visitors rather than by its physical attributes alone.
