PETALING JAYA (June 22): The Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) has channelled RM1.08 billion to Johor over the past four years since 2022, aimed at upgrading, repairing, and maintaining infrastructure, public amenities, and public housing.
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said the allocation reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring balanced and inclusive development for Johor residents regardless of background or location.
He said the funding is part of KPKT’s Sentuhan Kasih (Touch of Love) programme, which is conducted annually to assess local needs and address issues directly on the ground.
According to Nga, KPKT has carried out more than six official working visits to Johor over the past four years. These visits are intended not only for official engagements but also to engage directly with residents, identify problems, formulate solutions, and monitor the implementation of assistance.
He added that the initiative also demonstrates strong cooperation between the federal and Johor state governments to ensure development projects are implemented effectively and deliver meaningful impact to communities.
As part of the ongoing programme, Nga has invited Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi to participate in the Sentuhan Kasih Johor 2026 initiative, which will be held at the Taman Ungku Tun Aminah flats in Skudai. The ageing housing complex, more than 40 years old, is among the sites scheduled for upgrades.
He further noted that Johor’s role as a strategic economic gateway requires continuous improvement in urban infrastructure and housing to support its growth as an investment and development hub.
The Sentuhan Kasih Johor 2026 programme will run for two days across 13 locations, focusing on community engagement, issue resolution, and targeted allocation of government funding to areas in need.
