KUALA LUMPUR (June 22): V3D Asia Ltd and its commercial arm, Nuvah Sdn Bhd, have entered into a strategic collaboration with SIRIM Academy Sdn Bhd to develop Malaysia’s first industry standards for 3D construction printing, according to a press statement issued on June 19.
The initiative marks an important milestone in accelerating the safe, structured, and scalable adoption of automated construction technologies across the country.
As Malaysia’s construction sector continues to face persistent challenges such as heavy labour dependency, material wastage, rising costs, and extended project timelines, the introduction of a recognised framework for 3D concrete printing is expected to significantly improve efficiency. It also supports sustainability goals and the broader push toward future-ready urban development.
Under the collaboration, V3D Asia and Nuvah will serve as key industry partners in the drafting committee. They will contribute expertise in material science, engineering knowledge, and practical implementation experience to help shape the proposed standards framework.
V3D Group chairman Kazuhiro Ono said that establishing clear industry standards is essential to ensure the safe, responsible, and large-scale adoption of 3D printed construction technologies.
The group also aims to develop a strong, locally driven construction ecosystem that reduces reliance on imported systems while positioning Malaysia as a regional hub for construction innovation.
SIRIM Academy acting chief executive officer Mohd Bakri Jali noted that through this collaboration, SIRIM Academy will contribute its expertise in industry standards development, training, and certification. This is to support the creation of a credible and practical framework for 3D construction printing.
Beyond the development of industry standards, Nuvah is also preparing to launch Malaysia’s first 3D-printed luxury bungalow development in Country Heights Damansara. The project is expected to be introduced in the fourth quarter of this year and is currently open for expressions of interest.
