At first glance, the price difference can be attractive. In some cases, a set of tyres purchased online may cost significantly less than buying from a local tyre dealer.
However, tyres are not ordinary consumer products.
Unlike clothing, electronics, or household items, tyres are a critical safety component. They are the only part of a vehicle that remains in constant contact with the road surface. Braking performance, wet-weather grip, cornering stability, and overall vehicle control all depend heavily on tyre quality.
From a logistics perspective, the biggest concern often appears after the purchase.
If a tyre arrives with a manufacturing defect, quality issue, or specification mismatch, returning it to China can be costly and complicated. The real issue is whether consumers can verify that the product comes from a reputable manufacturer, meets recognised safety standards, and is supported by a reliable supply chain and warranty network.
A tyre is not simply another online purchase.
If a phone case fails, it can be replaced.
If a household appliance breaks, it can be repaired.
But when a tyre fails, the consequences may involve far more than financial loss.
