On 15 July 2026, a customer from Kedah visited the Mekahsa Machinery factory in Kuala Lumpur to conduct a live machine test for mushroom substrate preparation.
The customer brought several types of dried agricultural materials, including Napier grass leaves, rice straw, corn cobs and kenaf stalks. For mushroom cultivation, these materials must be processed into a fine and consistent size of approximately 2–3 mm, depending on the mushroom species and substrate formulation.
Previously, the customer used a conventional hammer mill crusher. However, the processed materials remained long, fibrous and uneven, making them unsuitable for preparing a consistent mushroom-growing medium.
During the test, our specialised agricultural waste crusher machine successfully processed all four materials into fine and uniform particles. The machine uses interchangeable screen meshes, allowing users to control the final output size according to their production requirements.
This multi-purpose crusher can process various agricultural crops and waste materials. Dried Napier grass can be used for substrate blending, composting and livestock-related applications. Rice straw is commonly processed for mushroom substrate, compost and mulch. Corn cobs can be converted into mushroom-growing material, compost or biomass products, while kenaf stalks can be processed for growing media, compost, fibre applications and biomass production.
Compared with traditional hammer mill crushers, this machine is more user-friendly, easier to maintain and capable of producing a more consistent output size. Its uniform cutting performance also helps improve material mixing, moisture distribution and substrate preparation.
The customer was highly satisfied with the final results, especially the fine and even output produced from different types of agricultural waste. This successful test demonstrates how farmers and mushroom growers can transform low-value agricultural residues into useful materials while reducing waste and improving production efficiency.
