Omoda C7 Spotted Again In Malaysia Ahead Of Expected Launch

The upcoming Omoda C7 has surfaced once again in Malaysia, this time through a teaser reel connected to the 2026 Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week. The appearance of the stylish C-segment SUV is adding more fuel to speculation that its official local debut could be happening very soon.

This latest teaser follows several earlier sightings of the model on Malaysian roads throughout last year, as well as its public preview during the Malaysia Autoshow 2025. Positioned between the Chery O5 and the larger Omoda C9, the C7 is expected to strengthen Omoda’s growing SUV lineup in Malaysia.

The version previewed locally previously featured a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine shared with the Jaecoo J7. The powertrain delivers 197 PS and 290 Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. The displayed unit also carried AWD badging, hinting that both all-wheel-drive and front-wheel-drive options could be offered for the Malaysian market.

Besides the petrol-powered version, Omoda also has a plug-in hybrid variant known as the C7 PHEV. The electrified model combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with an electric motor for significantly higher combined output figures. However, industry expectations currently point towards the petrol model arriving first in Malaysia before the hybrid version joins the lineup later.

Inside, the Omoda C7 adopts a modern minimalist cabin design highlighted by dual freestanding displays and a large 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen that can slide towards the passenger side. Other notable features include sporty integrated headrest seats, a uniquely shaped steering wheel, and a premium Sony sound system setup.

With more public appearances now taking place, the Omoda C7’s official launch in Malaysia may no longer be far away.
