The green colouring found in High Moisture Resistant (HMR) panels is simply a dye added by manufacturers to help furniture makers easily identify moisture-resistant boards after cutting them into smaller components. The colour itself does not determine the panel’s moisture resistance performance.
So, what really makes an HMR board resistant to moisture?
The key factor lies in the melamine content and the manufacturing process, which are verified through specific testing methods such as the V313 cyclic test. Panels that successfully pass this standard are commonly referred to as V313 HMR boards.
Today’s consumers and industry professionals are becoming increasingly informed, thanks to accessible information online and growing awareness within the woodworking and furniture industries. As a result, more buyers are now requesting proper test certifications rather than relying solely on the panel’s appearance.
