Genting Highlands To Introduce New Entry Charge From May 28

Genting Highlands To Introduce New Entry Charge From May 28

Starting this Thursday, motorists travelling to Genting Highlands will officially need to pay a new road entry fee before heading up the hill. The new system, managed by Lingkaran Cekap (LCSB), will take effect at the Genting Sempah and Gohtong Jaya entry points.

Private cars and vans will be charged RM5 per entry, while heavier vehicles such as lorries and buses will face higher charges depending on vehicle class. Motorcycles and emergency vehicles are exempted from the fee.

LCSB said certain vehicles, including taxis, buses and commercial lorries, must use dedicated lanes or the licence plate recognition (LPR) system when passing through the checkpoints.

The operator also confirmed that government staff working in approved institutions around Genting Highlands can apply for exemption from the charge. This includes personnel from selected schools, police stations, fire departments, clinics and local government offices.

From June 28 onwards, permanent residents in Genting Highlands will also receive discounted entry rates for up to two registered household vehicles. A six-month unlimited-entry pass will also be introduced for residents who frequently travel in and out of the area.
