Mitsubishi Introduces Triton Championship Edition to Celebrate AXCR 2025 Victory

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) has unveiled a special edition of its popular pickup truck to commemorate its success in the Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR) 2025. The newly introduced 2026 Mitsubishi Triton Championship Edition will be offered in limited numbers and comes with exclusive styling enhancements inspired by the brand’s motorsport achievements.

The special edition lineup will be available in two variants – Triton AT Premium and Triton Athlete. Pricing starts at RM155,980 for the Triton AT Premium Championship Edition, while the Triton Athlete Championship Edition is priced at RM169,980. Both variants carry a RM10,000 premium over the standard models and will officially be available in Malaysia beginning 11 March 2026.

The Triton Athlete Championship Edition will be the rarer of the two with only 150 units produced, and it will be finished exclusively in Jet Black Mica. This variant features several exterior upgrades such as unique body decals and rugged all-terrain tyres, giving it a more aggressive off-road appearance. Inside the cabin, owners will find a 9-inch infotainment display with an All-Round Monitor along with special Championship-themed headrest covers inspired by Mitsubishi’s rally heritage.

Meanwhile, the Triton AT Premium Championship Edition will be limited to 120 units and offered only in White Diamond. It receives its own set of styling upgrades including 18-inch black sport rims, a styling bar, front lower bumper garnish, and distinctive Championship body decals. Like the Athlete version, the cabin also features exclusive Championship aesthetic headrest covers to highlight the special edition theme.

As part of the launch campaign, customers who place a booking for either variant will receive exclusive gifts including a special key fob case and a motorsports-themed sticker pack.

Under the hood, both special edition models retain the same powertrains as their standard counterparts. The Triton AT Premium is powered by a 2.4-litre turbodiesel engine producing 184 PS and 430 Nm, while the Triton Athlete features a more powerful 2.4-litre MIVEC two-stage turbodiesel delivering 204 PS and 470 Nm. Both engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel-drive system.

The Triton Athlete continues to stand out with Mitsubishi’s Super Select 4WD-II system, allowing drivers to switch between 2H, 4H, 4HLc, and 4LLc modes depending on terrain conditions. It also benefits from Active Yaw Control (AYC), a system that enhances cornering stability by applying light braking to the inside front wheel during turns, improving control especially on slippery roads.

In terms of safety, the Triton Athlete remains equipped with Mitsubishi Motors Safety Sensing (MMSS), a suite of advanced driver assistance features that includes Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Active Cruise Control (ACC), and Blind Spot Warning with Lane Change Assist.

With its limited production numbers, motorsport-inspired styling, and proven drivetrain, the 2026 Mitsubishi Triton Championship Edition is positioned as a collector-style pickup that celebrates Mitsubishi’s off-road racing success while offering the practicality and capability expected from the Triton lineup.
