Application of rotary vane vacuum pumps in wood drying

Rosewood furniture is a high-end type of solid wood furniture, with almost all of its components made of solid wood.  Therefore, wood drying is a primary concern. However, improper drying can lead to various problems during subsequent processing, assembly, painting, and waxing, ultimately affecting the quality of the finished product.  Furthermore, due to shrinkage and expansion caused by changes in humidity, various gaps, deformations, or even severe cracking can occur, leading to quality-related complaints.  Therefore, correctly selecting drying equipment and drying processes is a crucial consideration in rosewood furniture production.
Based on the practical application of rotary vane vacuum pumps in wood drying, their function is summarized. To ensure the quality of the dried wood, the humidity of the drying medium (such as the commonly used humid air) must also be controlled to achieve fast and high-quality wood drying. This process is called wood drying. There are various methods of wood drying, including conventional drying, high-temperature drying, dehumidification drying, solar drying, vacuum drying, high-frequency drying, microwave drying, and flue gas drying. The following content focuses on the vacuum drying method. Rotary vane vacuum pumps are used in the wood processing industry. Our rotary vane vacuum pumps are used throughout the entire process, from placing the wood onto the workbench to the final product protection.  This ensures that the work area remains clean and free of debris that could affect the final product. Rotary vane vacuum pumps are also used as part of a central vacuum system in wood processing to improve efficiency and minimize costs associated with handling the wood and maintaining specialized workbenches that are no longer necessary.  Using rotary vane vacuum pumps for vacuum drying in traditional wood drying chambers reduces drying time from several weeks to just 3 to 4 days. During the drying process, the pressure in the drying chamber is gradually reduced to a minimum. The drying chamber is filled with high-pressure steam, and oxygen is removed to prevent cracking and discoloration of the wood, which are usually caused by excessive oxygen content. A rotary vane vacuum pump is used to circulate the steam and transfer heat to the wood.

The application of rotary vane vacuum pumps in wood drying demonstrates the following advantages:

1. Improves the stability of wood and wood products.

2. Increases the strength of wood and wood parts; when the moisture content of the wood is below the fiber saturation point, the strength of the wood increases as the moisture content decreases.

3. Prevents deterioration and decay of the wood.
