Malaysia’s solar incentives are evolving. With NEM 3.0 gradually transitioning to Solar ATAP starting 1 January 2026, now is the best time to understand your options and secure the right solar plan.
NEM 3.0 allows solar users to:
Use solar energy for self-consumption
Export excess energy to TNB
Enjoy 1-to-1 energy offset
Carry forward unused credits for up to 12 months
This makes NEM 3.0 ideal for homeowners who export surplus solar energy during the day. It ends on 30 June 2025.
Solar ATAP is the new solar programme replacing NEM. It prioritises self-consumption and smarter energy use:
Export credits offset Energy Charges only
Credits must be used within the same billing month
No credit rollover and no cash payout
No national quota limit
