Malaysia’s massage, reflexology, spa, and wellness industry is entering a new regulatory phase.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) Traditional & Complementary Medicine (TCM) Division has announced that starting 1 January 2027, the SKM3 & DKM4 Amali Fast-Track (PPT-PPA) pathway will no longer be accepted.
This means practitioners must obtain proper SKM Level 3 (SKM3) or DKM Level 4 (DKM4) Therapeutic Massage certification to continue practising legally in Malaysia.
Akta 775 (Traditional and Complementary Medicine Act 2016) regulates TCM and wellness practices in Malaysia.
Under enforcement:
Practitioners must hold recognised qualifications
Local councils may require certification for license approval
Non-compliance can lead to business closure or penalties
If you are working in the massage or spa industry, this law directly affects your career future.
You are strongly affected if you:
Practise massage or reflexology without SKM certification
Plan to open a massage or spa business
Work in wellness, spa, or therapy centres
Hold only short course or association certificates
Want long-term career security in Malaysia
Without recognised certification, your license renewal may be rejected.
Obtaining SKM3 or DKM4 provides:
✅ Legal independent practice eligibility
✅ Business license approval support
✅ Professional credibility
✅ Higher income opportunities (RM8,000 – RM20,000+ monthly potential)
✅ Career stability in Malaysia healthcare & wellness industry
✅ Peace of mind against enforcement risks
