Our team executed a complex internal installation involving high-velocity extraction ducting and structural mounting within the building’s service voids to enhance air management for the facility's culinary operations.

HIGH-ENTRAINMENT EXHAUST & STRUCTURAL DUCTING

Scope of Work: Internal High-Level Rigging, High-Velocity Duct Fabrication, and Specialized Support Integration

1. Problem Statement

Commercial kitchen operations within a dense urban mall like Lot 10 require massive air changes to manage heat and grease. The existing ceiling void presented a "tight-fit" challenge: limited vertical space combined with the need for large-diameter ducting that can handle high static pressure without vibrating or leaking into the building's common areas.

2. Technical Execution

Our M&E specialists utilized the specialized "Lot 10" site conditions to implement a high-performance internal air path:

  • High-Velocity Duct Fabrication: We installed heavy-duty rectangular galvanized steel ducting designed for high-entrainment airflow. This ensures that smoke and grease-laden air are pulled through the system fast enough to prevent "settling" or grease buildup within the internal runs.

  • Structural Support & Seismic Bracing: Given the weight of the galvanized sections, our team installed a network of unistrut supports and threaded rod hangers anchored directly into the concrete slab. This ensures the ductwork remains perfectly level and secure even during peak fan operation.

  • Flange Integrity & Airtight Sealing: To prevent "cooking odors" from escaping into the mall’s shopping corridors, every joint was fitted with industrial-grade gaskets and high-pressure flange clamps. This creates a hermetically sealed path from the kitchen hood to the main discharge riser.

  • Space-Optimized Routing: Navigating around existing chilled water pipes and electrical trays, our engineers utilized "offset" transitions to maintain maximum airflow while fitting the new infrastructure within the restricted ceiling plenum.
