Toyota Vellfire Hybrid Debuts With More Power And Efficiency
UMW Toyota Motor has introduced the Toyota Vellfire Hybrid in Malaysia, bringing hybrid technology to one of its most luxurious MPVs. The flagship model is priced at RM549,900 on-the-road without insurance, positioning it as the most expensive variant in the Alphard/Vellfire lineup. Buyers will also receive a five-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty together with an eight-year hybrid battery warranty with unlimited mileage, providing long-term ownership peace of mind.
Powering the luxury MPV is a 2.5-litre A25A-FXS Dynamic Force naturally aspirated engine paired with an electric motor. The petrol engine produces 187 PS and 233 Nm of torque, while the electric motor contributes 182 PS and 270 Nm. Combined, the hybrid system delivers a total output of 250 PS, making it 70 PS more powerful than the standard petrol model while maintaining smoother and quieter performance.
One of the biggest advantages of the hybrid system is fuel efficiency. The Vellfire Hybrid records a fuel consumption figure of 5.7 litres per 100 km (17.5 km per litre), which is significantly better than the petrol version’s 9.1 litres per 100 km (11 km per litre). This improvement highlights the benefits of Toyota’s hybrid technology in balancing power and efficiency in a large luxury MPV.
Visually, the hybrid model remains almost identical to the standard Vellfire, maintaining its bold and premium design. Exterior highlights include split LED headlights, a large front grille, and full-width LED taillights, along with 19-inch two-tone alloy wheels. The only clear distinction is the HEV badge placed on the vehicle’s exterior, indicating its hybrid powertrain.
Inside the cabin, the Vellfire Hybrid receives several premium upgrades, including Nappa leather upholstery in Sunset Brown and a head-up display for the driver. The biggest luxury enhancement can be found in the second row, where passengers enjoy Executive Lounge seats equipped with ottoman leg rests, fold-out tables with vanity mirrors, and touchscreen seat controls. A 14-inch ceiling-mounted rear entertainment monitor further enhances the rear passenger experience.
Technology also plays a key role in the Vellfire Hybrid. The front cabin features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system is paired with a 15-speaker JBL sound system, while convenience features include a Qi wireless charger and app-based remote engine start.
Additional comfort and convenience features include four-zone automatic climate control with Panasonic Nanoe X air ionising, a digital rear-view mirror, 360-degree camera system, powered tailgate, and a built-in dashcam, further reinforcing the MPV’s premium positioning.
In terms of safety, the Vellfire Hybrid is equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense driver assistance suite. This includes autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane centring assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, parking AEB, traffic sign recognition, and adaptive high beam. The MPV also comes standard with six airbags and stability control, ensuring strong safety credentials for both driver and passengers.
