At Obsnap Testing Services Sdn Bhd, we believe that transparency builds trust. Whether you are a first-time client or a returning partner, understanding what happens behind the scenes — from the moment you contact us to the moment you receive your test report — helps you make better decisions for your product and your business.
Here is our complete step-by-step tensile test process.
Step A — Customer Inquiry Received
It all starts with you. When you reach out to us, our team collects the basic information — your company name, contact person, and how urgently you need the results. No question is too small at this stage.
Step B — Understanding Your Requirement
This is the most important step. Before we touch any equipment, we need to fully understand your testing needs. We will ask:
Getting this right upfront saves time and ensures your results are meaningful.
Step C — Quotation & Confirmation
Once we understand the scope, we prepare and send you a detailed quotation. Upon your approval and purchase order, we proceed with scheduling.
Step D — Sample Submission
You deliver your samples to our laboratory in Shah Alam, Seksyen 16. Our lab team immediately checks the condition, labelling, and quantity of every sample received.
Step E — Sample Preparation
Specimens are carefully machined to the required shape and dimensions — typically a dog-bone (flat) or round bar profile, depending on the applicable standard. Width and thickness are measured at three points, and the average is recorded for accuracy.
Step F — Machine Setup & Calibration
Our technicians select the correct grips and load cell suited to your material. The crosshead speed is set according to the standard (for example, 5 mm/min for metals per ASTM E8 or ISO 6892). Gauge length is confirmed, and the machine and extensometer are zeroed before testing begins.
Step G — Conducting the Tensile Test
The specimen is mounted securely in the upper and lower grips of the Universal Testing Machine (UTM). A tensile load is applied at the set speed — continuously — until the specimen fractures. Throughout the test, the machine captures Load (N) vs. Extension (mm) data in real time.
Step H — Observing & Recording Key Points
During and after the test, our team records:
Step I — Data Analysis & Calculation
From the raw data, we calculate:
Step J — Report Preparation
Our team compiles everything into a comprehensive test report — including the stress-strain graph, specimen photographs, all calculated values, and observations. The report is reviewed and signed off by our qualified testing personnel before release.
Step K — Result Delivered to You
Your final test report is issued in PDF and/or hard copy format, complete with:
