Jetour T2 Teased for Malaysia — Set to Rival GWM Tank 300

Jetour Malaysia has dropped a major hint about the upcoming Jetour T2, teasing its arrival on Facebook after it made its first local appearance at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025. The SUV on display was a left-hand-drive version, but it still managed to draw attention with its bold design and rugged presence. With this announcement, it looks like the GWM Tank 300 is about to gain a new rival in Malaysia’s growing off-road SUV segment.

The Jetour T2 will feature the same 2.0-litre turbocharged engine used in the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro, producing a solid 254 PS and 390 Nm of torque. Power is delivered through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, offering both punchy performance and efficiency. Designed with off-road enthusiasts in mind, the T2 comes exclusively with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, setting it apart from its more city-friendly sibling, the Jetour T1—which is also planned for Malaysia but expected to arrive later.

Visually, the T2 is the tougher, more adventurous model in the lineup. One of its easiest identifiers is the spare wheel cover mounted on the tailgate, a design cue reminiscent of traditional off-road SUVs. The model’s proportions and styling put it in the same league as vehicles like the Ford Bronco Sport, with a mix of rugged capability and modern appeal.

Jetour Auto International vice president Kevin Xu confirmed that all Jetour vehicles for Malaysia will be locally assembled (CKD), including the T2. Production will take place at Berjaya Assembly’s Tampoi plant in Johor, which already handles the assembly of the Jetour Dashing and VT9. This move signals Jetour’s strong commitment to the Malaysian market and should help keep prices competitive compared to fully imported rivals.

In its home market of China, the Jetour T2 has been a major success. The brand reports average monthly sales of around 15,000 units, which is twice the volume of the GWM Tank 300, cementing its position as the top-selling “boxy SUV” in the segment.

In Malaysia, the GWM Tank 300 (CBU) currently carries a price tag of around RM250,000. With the Jetour T2 being locally assembled, it’s highly likely that the SUV will be priced more competitively — a move that could shake up the market and attract buyers looking for a tough, capable SUV without the premium price tag.

With local production confirmed and strong global sales backing its reputation, the Jetour T2 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting SUV launches in Malaysia for 2025.
