We see it every day online: bad reviews, harsh opinions, angry rants. But when does a comment cross the legal line?

👉 Opinion = OK

“I didn’t like the service.”

Personal experience, subjective.

🚫 Defamation = NOT OK

“This company cheats its customers.” (if untrue)

False statement, harms reputation.

✅ Quick check:

Is it fact or opinion?

Can it be proven true?

Does it damage someone’s reputation?

If it’s a false “fact” that hurts someone’s name → it might be defamation.
