Official Notice: Abolition of PPT Route for SKM/DKM in Traditional & Islamic Medicine (Effective 1 January 2027)

Official Announcement

 

The Traditional and Complementary Medicine Council (Majlis Perubatan Tradisional dan Komplementari – PT&K), at its Meeting No. 3/2025 held on 5 November 2025, has agreed to abolish the acceptance of Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM) and Malaysian Skills Diploma (DKM) obtained through the Prior Achievement Recognition (PPT) method for the fields of:

 

Malay Traditional Medicine (PTM)

 

Islamic Medicine (PI)

 

This decision specifically applies to SKM and DKM certifications issued by the Department of Skills Development (Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran – JPK) under the PPT method.

Effective Date

 

Effective from: 1 January 2027

 

From this date onwards, SKM or DKM obtained through the PPT method will no longer be accepted as recognised qualifications for registration with the PT&K Council in the above-mentioned fields.

Transition Period

 

Individuals who have already registered or intend to register with JPK to obtain SKM or DKM via the PPT method are given a trasition period until 31 December 2026 to complete and obtain their certification through PPT

 

Important Clarification After 1 January 2027

 

Beginning 1 January 2027:

 

❌ SKM or DKM obtained via PPT will NOT be accepted

 

✅ Only SKM or DKM obtained through formal training at Accredited Training Centres (Pusat Bertauliah) will be recognised

 

This applies to practitioner registration with the PT&K Council

This policy affects certification and registration for practices including (but not limited to):

 

Traditional massage (Urut)

 

Cupping therapy (Bekam)

 

Postnatal care

 

Malay Traditional Medicine (PTM)

 

Islamic Medicine (PI)

 

 

Summary (Simple Explanation)

 

PPT route for SKM/DKM in PTM & PI will end on 31 December 2026

 

From 1 January 2027, PPT certificates will no longer be valid for PT&K registration

 

Only SKM/DKM obtained via accredited training centres will be accepted

If no DKM you cannot register under PENGAMAL KKM, KKM can fined to RM30,000.00 

Effective on 2027 they proceed their formal class under the slapb that is more than one year or more
