Proton S70 Receives Strong Response with 7,157 Bookings for Its Updated MC1

Proton has announced that the 2026 Proton S70 MC1 has already collected 7,157 bookings since order books opened in February. The sedan has also achieved a major milestone, with 40,111 units delivered in Malaysia since its initial debut in November 2023, highlighting the model’s growing popularity among Malaysian buyers.

The biggest update for the S70 MC1 is the introduction of a new 1.5-litre BHE15-EFZ i-GT turbocharged four-cylinder engine, replacing the previous three-cylinder unit. Paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission, the engine produces 181 PS and 290 Nm of torque, offering stronger performance and improved efficiency. Proton claims the sedan can now accelerate from 0–100 km/h in 7.5 seconds, significantly faster than the previous 9.6 seconds, while fuel consumption improves to 5.7L/100 km.

The updated S70 is offered in four variants – Executive, Premium, Flagship and Flagship X, with prices starting from RM68,800 and going up to RM89,800. In terms of safety, the sedan comes with six airbags and several driver-assistance features as standard, while the Flagship and Flagship X variants receive Level 3 ADAS, including adaptive cruise control, lane centring assist and autonomous emergency braking.

With strong early bookings and over 40,000 units already delivered, the Proton S70 continues to strengthen its position as one of the brand’s key sedan models in Malaysia, this reflects the continued confidence of local buyers..
