UMW Toyota Opens 2026 on a Solid Note with 4,700 Vehicles Delivered in January

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) kicked off 2026 with solid momentum, recording 4,700 vehicle deliveries in January despite intensifying competition in the Malaysian automotive market. The company described the performance as a stable and encouraging start, supported by consistent demand across Toyota’s key model segments.

According to UMWT, its wide-ranging and established product portfolio continues to resonate with Malaysian buyers, reinforced by a strong focus on ownership experience. Guided by its “Best in Town” philosophy, the company remains committed to offering reliable vehicles backed by nationwide service coverage and trusted aftersales support.

UMWT highlighted the importance of vehicle dependability during the Chinese New Year period, when long-distance travel is common. The company emphasised that reliability, comfort and comprehensive aftersales care play a crucial role in ensuring drivers and families can travel with confidence throughout the festive season.

In January, UMWT further strengthened its line-up with the introduction of two contrasting models that showcase the brand’s breadth. At the performance end of the spectrum, the GR Corolla Automatic made its debut, featuring a newly developed eight-speed automatic transmission delivering 300 PS and 400 Nm to all four wheels. The Japan-built hot hatch accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and is priced at RM379,000, positioning it RM10,000 above the manual variant.

On the more accessible side, UMWT launched the new Vios Hybrid, expanding Toyota’s hybrid offerings in Malaysia. Prices start from RM103,900, rising to RM109,900 for the GR Sport variant. Locally assembled, the Vios HEV utilises Toyota’s fourth-generation hybrid system, paired with a 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle engine and an electric motor, delivering impressive fuel efficiency of 3.6 L/100 km.

Together, these launches underline UMWT’s strategy of catering to a broad spectrum of Malaysian motorists — from driving enthusiasts to fuel-conscious daily commuters — as the company moves forward into 2026.
