Proton eMAS 7 Revised for 2026 Malaysian Market

Pro-Net, a subsidiary of national carmaker Proton, has officially launched the 2026 Proton eMAS 7, now produced locally in Malaysia. This marks the first electric vehicle to roll out from Proton’s dedicated EV manufacturing facility in Tanjung Malim, highlighting the company’s continued push to strengthen the country’s electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem.

The 2026 eMAS 7 is available in two variants, Prime and Premium, with on-the-road prices (without insurance) starting at RM103,800 for the Prime and RM119,800 for the Premium in Peninsular Malaysia. Local assembly has enabled a RM2,000 price reduction for the Prime variant, while the Premium variant’s pricing remains unchanged.

Key updates for the 2026 Proton eMAS 7 include enhancements to both variants. The Prime variant now comes with a hands-free powered tailgate, allowing drivers to operate the boot with a button or key fob—adding convenience, especially when carrying heavy items.

The Premium variant receives upgraded advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). New safety features include Evasive Manoeuvre Assist (EMA), Front Cross-Traffic Alert (FCTA), and Active Lane Change Assist (ALCA), enabled by additional radar units. Existing eMAS 7 owners are unable to receive these upgrades via over-the-air updates due to hardware requirements.

Both variants retain the same electric motor, producing 218 hp and 320 Nm, with the Prime variant achieving 0–100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and the Premium in 7.1 seconds. Battery capacity and driving range differ between models: Prime offers a 49.52 kWh battery with a 345 km WLTP range, while Premium features a 60.22 kWh battery with 410 km WLTP range. Both variants support fast DC charging, with the Premium variant able to charge up to 100 kW.

To celebrate the launch, Pro-Net is offering a limited-time Welcome Benefit of RM4,000, lowering the effective starting price to RM99,800 for Prime and RM115,800 for Premium in Peninsular Malaysia. Buyers also receive the Power Pack+, which includes a home charger, V2L adaptor, five years of in-car internet, extended vehicle and battery warranties, and a RM5,000 trade-in rebate.

The 2026 Proton eMAS 7 is positioned as a locally produced EV that combines technology, safety, and practicality, reflecting Proton’s continued focus on sustainable mobility and innovation for Malaysian drivers.
