Bank of America has officially opened its new office at Merdeka 118, marking a significant milestone in the bank’s long-standing presence in Malaysia and reinforcing its long-term commitment to the country’s financial and business ecosystem.
The inauguration ceremony, held on April 30, was attended by senior global and regional leadership, including Bank of America international president Bernard Mensah, Asia-Pacific president Jin Su, and Malaysia country executive Gautam Puntambekar.
The relocation or expansion into Merdeka 118 signals a strategic positioning within one of Kuala Lumpur’s most iconic and high-profile commercial towers, reflecting the importance of Malaysia as a regional financial hub.
Bank of America stated that it remains committed to “profits with purpose,” focusing on responsible growth that benefits employees, clients, and the wider community. This aligns with the bank’s broader global strategy of combining commercial banking strength with sustainability and social responsibility objectives.
Its Malaysian operations cover a wide range of financial services, including corporate and commercial banking, treasury and trade solutions, foreign exchange, fixed income sales and trading, and investment banking. This positions Malaysia as an important node in the bank’s Asia-Pacific network.
The move also highlights Bank of America’s long history in the country, having first established a presence in Malaysia in 1959. The latest office opening represents a renewed commitment to strengthening its footprint in the local and regional financial services landscape.
